Bowed drones, crunching rolls of distortion, piercing feedback, percussive bass, ambient waves, screech of metal on metal. Reviewers have likened the recent sound of Locust Sympathizer to Prurient, Knurl, IDX-1274 and Oscillating Innards.

History in Brief:
Locust Sympathizer has existed since the summer of 2004 in Rochester (and later Buffalo) NY, performing harsh noise improvisations using a washtub bass, five-string banjo and effects pedals. Live performances have included collaborations with guitarists, strings, drums, and junk percussion. The core member of the project is Ben Hockenberry on washtub and electronics, with Chris Drysdale of Rochester on the drums. Since the end of 2005, Ben has taken the project in a solo direction, playing with a number of live collaborators. Most recently, he opened for British noise archvillains Whitehouse at the Buffalo Icon.
