All over the world mobile, acoustic, local street bands comprised of drums and horns have expressed the exuberance, sense of style, and sense of rebellion in a culture. From the brass bands of northern India to the west coast of Africa; from Southern Europe to the Blocos of Bahia; and from New Orleans and the Caribbean to Buffalo, New York comes the eclectic inspiration for the 12/8 Path Band. Playing festivals, parties, protests, and parades; weddings and workshops; benefits, bars, or even just busking on Allen Street in hometown Buffalo, NY the 12/8 Path Band aims to revive the energy, fun, and history of the Street Band. Founded by ethnomusicologist Charlie Keil 30 years ago, the Path has morphed at least a few times in its day but remains devoted foremost to the music, and dedicated always to the ideals of exuberance, style, and rebellion that light our Path.
