Jacob Jay / Dalton Sharp Quintet

The Jacob Jay/Dalton Sharp Quintet enjoys performing a collection of original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards around the Western New York area. Past performances include the Colored Musicians Club Jazz Festival, the Northwest Jazz Festival, the Nietzsche’s Jazz Festival, the Buffalo Infringement Festival, Babeville's 9th Ward and at Pausa Art House. Inspired by ensembles such as the great Miles Davis Quintets they strive to approach every tune with a unique interpretation. Jacob Jay is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo State with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education and a Minor in Digital Music Production. He has studied trumpet with John Maguda, Kyle Resnick, Dr. Mark Filsinger, Dr. Rick Holland and Freddie Hendrix. Jacob is currently a Graduate Assistant at UAM studies with Dr. Alex Norris and is pursuing a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies. Dalton Sharp is an active saxophonist in Buffalo, New York who regularly performs in several genres of music. He has performed with Onaje Allan Gumbs, Tia Brazda, BJC Repertory Orchestra, CMC Centennial Big Band, Flyin’ Blind Blues Band, and Tiger Chung Lee. Dalton has studied saxophone with Ben Boyar, Dave Schiavone, Doug Stone and Bobby Militello.
