Lowlander

Website: www.myspace.com/lowlanderband

Lowlander from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania / Weirton, West Viriginia are a rock n roll band who's influences include The Beatles, Green Day, Guns N' Roses & The Stooges. Their songs run the gamut from all out punk ("Smashed From The Pain") to J Mascis style melodica ("Devastated") to bruised acoustic balladry ("Piece Of Mind"). Despite the convergence of styles and flavors Lowlander exhibit a cohesive brand of 21st century rock indebted as much to the youthful aggression of The Misfits & The Ramones as it is to, one imagines, the three members Scottish heritage. Jim Courtney plays drums and provides vocals for the group, an odd pairing but nonetheless unique. He sounds like Paul Westerberg if he cut down on his smoking and at times provides heartfelt and endearing musings on everyday life struggles and relationships gone awry. He is joined by Kris & Sean Boynes who provide lead and rhythm guitar, as well as, Jerry Courtney on bass guitar. The energy is palpable in each song as this dynamic four piece celebrate rock music and the joys of just having fun. In an era of doom and gloom, Lowlander are a shining beacon of hope. Lowlander aim to "Keep Rock Alive!" and in short, do just that on their debut album, "We Need To Talk" which is available for purchase at www.cdbaby.com, iTunes, Hastings Music Stores, and through there record label Brimstone Records, LLC (www.brimstonerecords.com). They are also a featured band on High Octane and Clearchannel Radio and are touring the east coast as we speak. Additionally, the band's sophomore album (TELEGRAPHIC) is currently in post production and should be released by the Fall.
