Art Show and Poetry Reading
Presented by Anne Reed, Edward Gates and Marten Clibbens
A hallucination of letters falling like rain. A collaboration between artists Anne Reed and Edward Gates and poet Marten Clibbens in which text attempts to become image and image threatens to engulf text. This exhibition-- which, in addition to painting, includes elements of collage and mixed media-- discusses and inhabits the relation between calligraphy and brush stroke, between a reading of pain and a painting of writing, between the materiality of the poem and the texture of the painting. The exhibition will be housed by Rust Belt Books and will run July 2- July 31: there will be a closing party, with wine and beer, on July 27 between 5pm and 7pm, with a poetry reading by Marten Clibbens between 6pm and 6:30pm.
