Outragous Fashion-Models ShootOut ---A "Be-A-Booster" Photo ContestPresented by Buffalo Photography & Models MeetUP Group =========================================================================== FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AS OF, July 11, 2008 Contact: CurtBischoff@Yahoo.com 716-886-1903 =========================================================================== Outrageous Fashion-Models ShootOut--A "Be-A-Booster" Photo Contest The sidewalks of Allentown are about to become the scene of contemporary fashion when the photographers studio and the fashion runway "MeetUP" along Allen Street as part of the Buffalo Infringement Festival during the last few days of July. The Festival promotes a large variety of performing artists who are not usually seen by the public. 2008 is the largest Infringement Festival ever. See: InfringeBuffalo.ORG The Buffalo Photography & Models MeetUP Group is doing a long term creative photo "project" that will document the cultural events and lifestyles as seen in Allentown; Buffalo's Counter-Culture gathering place. The many scenes selected for this particular photo "Shootout" are located along the entire length of Allen Street, which is about nine blocks long. By prior arrangement, various businesses will be cooperating with photographers and models in staging appropriate artistic scenes for use in the contest. The purpose of all this is the creative making of "Art" and to help promote Allentown as a cultural center, a good place to do business, and an interesting place to live and visit, with many friendly attractions. Amateur models are needed to dress up in "outrageously spoofed" costumes to pose in various settings along Allen Street. Models can invent their own costumes and are encouraged to sign-up ahead of time to receive instructions. The idea is to "ham it up" while interacting with people and businesses along Allen Street on a prearranged basis starting July 24th and continuing everyday for the following week. The project consists of SIX PARTS that will play out over the coarse of a week. ---Part 1 is Neighborhood Photography. Anyone with a camera may register as a contestant and proceed to find scenes and subjects throughout the Buffalo/Allentown area by using their own initiative. A total of eight days are allotted between July 24 and 31. ---Part 2 is Family Photography. Parents are encouraged to bring their kids WITH CAMERAS to receive a lesson on how to pose subjects in various lighting conditions. The kids may then enter the contest and proceed on their own special round of selected nearby photo locations, with parents in tow. Any snapshot camera will do, but digital is preferable. Parents may register anytime Saturday, July 26, Noon to 6 PM, at Gateway Art Gallery, 141 Elmwood, (just North of Allen). Be prepared to immediately set out on a neighborhood photographic journey that will last at least one full hour, if not longer. Late July has some of the hottest weather of the Summer. You may want to take a break and get the youngsters some ice cream or a cold drink along the way. ---Part 3 is Cultural photography. Various business locations are opening their doors to our more experienced "shutterbugs" so that we may document many of the commercial businesses along Allen Street. Included are fashion & retail clothing stores; antiques, furniture & novelty stores; various eateries with kitchens; dance & music studios; piercing & tattoo parlors; along with a variety of theatrical stages and even a pet grooming business. All of the above agree to permit cameras & models as their retail locations become the subject of creative artwork with improvised backdrops. Any Allentown business may request to participate. ---Part 4 is Fringy Photography. By request only, experienced photographers are being assigned to document the many other projects of the Infringement Festival. These may include any of the more than three hundred (300) performing groups at more than fifty (50) venue locations. Any Infringement project may request photographic support. This 'Part' is restricted to experienced photographers with proper equipment on an assigned schedule. 2008 is the largest Infringement Festival ever. See: InfringeBuffalo.ORG ---Part 5 is Special Events Photography. We will wholeheartedly join up with a late night gender bender veriety act Drag Show, where models and performers dress in drag as the opposite sex. This ought to be tons of fun and a spectacularly photogenic event, never to be forgotten. Next on the Special Events list is a Midnight Madness Cabaret Extravaganza. Our models are asked to creatively costume in the burlesque style and proceed to do some unabashed Infringing, yet remain entirely legal. For those desireing to "strut their stuff", here is the chance of a lifetime; all while the rock bands play away. Members of the audiance are asked to vote for the best costume and a prize will be awarded as the cameras click away. ---Part 6 is a very special event, Figure Drawing and Photography in the Naturist Style. Have you ever gone to a "Free Beach", skinny-dipped with friends, played volleyball in the raw, felt a soothing sense of 'freedom' as the wind gently wafts, sought to achieve that 'no tan lines' effect, enjoyed equality between the genders, or swum within the cool refreshing waters of baptising newness? Get ready to drop all pretenses and soak up the sun, easing off into an afternoon of relaxing solitude, while problems of the uptight textile world drift away. C/O artisans are welcome to wonder with us, off into a secluded nearby glenn. 'Gawkers' need not apply. Finally: To enter the week long overall "ShootOut" contest, each participating photographer must register and donate a $10 contestant fee. (Models do not pay.) Each contestant is then given instructions and a list of participating Allen Street venue/locations, where they can go and find "subjects" who are willing to pose and "model" according to the selected theme for that location. Please note that models and venues are instructed to NOT cooperate with unregistered persons who have not signed releases. Early sign-up and registration can be done online at MeetUP.com or in person, Saturday, July 19th, Noon to Midnight, at 141 Elmwood on. It is best to get the instructions ahead of time. Amateur Models pose without reimbursement and will be given copies of their pictures for keeping and to add to building their portfolios. This is a good way to make contacts and network. Talented participants who do well in the contest may possibly be asked to join further projects in the future. The accumulated photographs are then judged for their composition and technical merits. Ounce compiled, the best and most outstanding photographs may be seen on display in the many Art Galleries of Allentown and the Buffalo region in the Winter months ahead. Photographers, parents and models are asked to sign releases. Late registrations are OK.
