At first glance, "Nixon's Confession" appears to be a simple rotary phone resting atop a pedestal. When one picks up the phone, though, one hears a surprising section of one of the Watergate recordings playing in a continuous loop. By creating a virtual space within a public space, where one can experience an historic and disturbing telephone conversation first hand, the installation aims to engender a visceral, critical response in the listener.
