Meet the City

Meet the City is a two hour, scavenger hunt that encourages teams of three to investigate different areas of the city and interact with the people in it. Various clues lead players to ten checkpoint locations and their next photo assignment. Each checkpoint has a topic and a minimum number of people required for the photo. Some topics are meant to cause reflection (Worst Presidential Moment) and others are just plain fun (Broadway Musical). After deciding on an idea for the topic's photo, teams must get other non-players to help them act it out and then send the photo via picture messaging to the given email address. When the two hours are up all teams meet to share experiences and judge each photo submission with an applause meter. Points are counted and the winning team receives the coveted Roaming Gnome. The entire event takes 3 and a half hours.
The goal of the game is to introduce players to different local businesses (no chain stores) and to encourage them to interact with new people face-to-face. So far 28 people have played and over 180 different people took a few moments from their day to help the teams collect the checkpoints.
